Straight “up or down” votes–you’re either for them or against them.  Or maybe, Senator Lieberman, you’re opposed when it suits your agenda and for them when it suits your whim.  Regardless, your “conscience” clearly has nothing to do with it.  The House has passed their version of a Health Care Reform bill, public option included.  The Senate stands posed to vote on theirs, public option also included, in the upcoming weeks.  Still Senator Joe Lieberman (ostensibly a Democrat) continues to promise to side with the “Party of No” in preventing the legislation from receiving the straight up or down vote that it deserves.  This despite the fact that a majority of Americans continue to favor the public option.  Despite the fact that a super-majority of Connecticut voters support a public option!

It’s about time for the NUCLEAR OPTION.  No, I don’t mean abolishing the filibuster.  That one would come back to bite you for sure. No, I mean Harry Reid and the rest of the Democratic leadership in the Senate needs to let Joe know in no uncertain terms that he needs to make a choice: he can have his “conscience” or his committee chairmanship.  If he can’t or won’t help the Dems pass something as important to progressives as Health Care Reform when 68% of his constituents favor it, then he’s no use to them.  Time to kick him to the curb like the political whore he is.  Just sayin’…
