Charlie Crist tackles the tough issues

After coming out against texting while driving on Tuesday, Governor Charlie Crist gave a vote of confidence for beleaguered Florida State University head coach Bobby Bowden on Wednesday. Gotta hand it to old Charlie – he sure knows how to take a stand on the most important issues facing Florida and the nation.

Straight “up or down” votes–you’re either for them or against them.  Or maybe, Senator Lieberman, you’re opposed when it suits your agenda and for them when it suits your whim.  Regardless, your “conscience” clearly has nothing to do with it.

I was stunned. On a recent errand filled trip, I was overwhelmed by the friendly, courteous, capable attitudes of the various tellers, clerks, and cashiers I encountered. I want to sign up for the course “Become a  Prayer Practitioner in 30 Days.”  Better yet, maybe I’ll create a certification program so I can train you to pray for the ill at, let’s say, 50 bucks an hour. There’s plenty of money to go around.

Cut out the middle man.

CIT Group, a major lender to small business and recipient of federal bailout money, has filed Chapter 11. The government should stop lending to the Big Banks and start lending directly to the people who really keep the economy going.

Some may call us unfocused. We prefer "well-rounded" or "intellectually curious." Whatever. The fact is we have a broad range of interests and will probably cover a lot of ground here.
